Obituary of Nicholas R. Don Angelo
Nicholas Don Angelo passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 29, 2025, at the age of 92. He was the beloved son of the late John and Ruth Don Angelo.
Nicholas was the devoted husband of Alexa Don Angelo. Their love story began during Alexa’s first year of teaching, and they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised two loving daughters, Alexandria (Edward) Kane and Francesca Don Angelo (Javier Rodriguez). He was a cherished grandfather to Nicholas, Edward, Victoria, Julia, Lucas, and David.
He was the brother of the late John Don Angelo and Ann (Patrick) Sweeney and will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his large extended family on both sides.
Nicholas dedicated 32 years to the New York City Department of Education, serving as a Principal at McKinley in Bay Ridge for the last 18 years of his career. He was a mentor to many students and teachers, leaving a lasting impact on the educational community.
A proud patriot, Nicholas loved America and honorably served in the U.S. Army. He was equally proud of his Italian heritage and celebrated it throughout his life. He had a passion for travel, exploring the world with his family, and was known for his exceptional culinary skills. His generosity knew no bounds—he was deeply philanthropic, supporting his community, his church, and numerous charitable organizations.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Paralyzed Veterans of America in Nicholas’s memory.
He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
