Obituary of Lorraine T. Larsen

Lorraine Larsen, of Breezy Point, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on July 16, 2021. Lorraine is the daughter of the late Fanny and Alfred Calabro. She is the beloved wife of Arthur Larsen and loving mother of Jeanine (Frank) Morgillo, Christine Williams, Claudine Larsen and Marissa Perrotta. Lorraine is the cherished sister of Jeanette (Robert) Israel, Ross (Sharon) Calabro, and Anita (Thomas) Bello. Lorraine’s greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren -Katie and Maggie Williams; Sofia and Lidia Morgillo; and Sabrina and Markus Perrotta.

Lorraine was born and raised in Brooklyn, in the parish of Our Lady Help of Christians, where she learned early in life the joy of friendshipsand being part of a community – themes of her life. Her signature sense of style and deep Catholic faith were inherited from her mother, Fanny, a dressmaker’s daughter. Her gifts for storytelling and connecting with others were inherited from her father, Alfred. Her marvelous smile and warm welcomes were her trademark.

Lorraine married the love of her life and raised four daughters.  She was married to her husband for more than 50 years. She enjoyed and took great pride in a highly successful 42 year career with Lord & Taylor, only retiring when the flagship store in Manhattan closed in 2019.

Throughout her life, she was constantly planning a family vacation for her children and grandchildren to her favorite places – Disney World and Woodloch Pines. She enjoyed travelling and cruising with her husband as well as meeting new people. Her souvenirs from her trips were new friendships made. She was happiest when returning to her home in Breezy Point.

Through her smile, her joy for life, her bottomless heart, and her endless curiosity, she built a universe around herself of friends and loved ones.  When you talked to her, you always felt that she was listening and, in that moment, you were the most important person in the world to her.  In this way, she was a light to the world and she lives on in the hearts and memories of us all.
