My deepest condolences go out to John's family. I had the pleasure of working with John over the first half of 2011, and his positive spirit affected me immediately.
Our desks were adjacent to one another, and every day he had something encouraging, enlightening, or funny to offer.
We often get caught up in our own problems, and feel as though they are insurmountable. This man NEVER complained, and I feel honored to have known him. RIP, my friend.

Johnny, I'm in utter disbelief. I really thought you were going to be with us decades into the future. The pain I feel right now experiencing the loss of a dear friend like you is immeasurable. There are no words to describe how empty I feel right now. This is a feeling I haven't had in a very long time, and for only a very few days in my life have I ever felt like this. My friend Johnny, I know you are in the Lord's hands at this moment. He will keep you forever. You were as best a friend that anyone could ever hope for. More importantly, you were a great father and provider for Chrissy, Isabella and Adriana. You were loved by so many Johnny, and never will a day go by that I won't remember the good times. I guess that in times of loss we think up to the minute only and are left to deal with the emptiness, but in time we heal and reflect on the good times. Thanks for those good times, all the great memories...meeting you in June, 1980...wiffle ball against Eric's garage door...football in the street with the guys...playing Intellivision in your basemnent...Lenny & John's...Sunday Yankee games...the trips to Pittsburgh. Most importantly, thank you for being my friend. Although I'll never see you in this world again, I look forward to one day in the future when we will see you again on the other side. Johnny, you will always be my friend. I just wish you didn't leave us so soon.

My deepest heartfelt sympathies to the Vera family. John was a wonderful person. He had such a positive impact at RCN. Throughout my life I have always drawn my strength and good morality from the special people who have touched my life. John’s gift was his contagious optimism and the incredible courage(and humor) he displayed contending with his many physical challenges. Thank you John.

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather, openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.
May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead. I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you.I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.
