Obituary of Mattia Cafiero

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mattia Cafiero. Mattia was welcomed into Heaven by her husband the late Carmine Cafiero on December 13, 2023. She was 90 years old.

Mattia was a devoted mother to her four children, Josephine (Joseph) Russo, Luisa (Dan) Foley, Rita (the late Harry) Valentine, and Ralph (Darcy) Cafiero.

Her legacy extends to her grandchildren, Lisa (Tom), Dina (Tom), Carmine (Ann), Christina (Matt), Joseph (Dana), and Carmine. Mattia was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren, each a testament to the impact of her nurturing spirit.

Mattia found enduring companionship in Vincent Carannante, with whom she shared the many chapters of her remarkable life.

In addition to her immediate family, Mattia was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her generous heart and genuine care touched the lives of numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever remember her with love and gratitude.

As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, let us remember and celebrate the beautiful moments she shared with us. May the memories of Mattia Cafiero bring comfort to those who grieve, and may her spirit live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to have known her.

The visitation for Mattia Cafiero will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 9:30 AM - the family will be gathering at the funeral home by 8:00 AM. The Committal Service will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island.
