Jo Ann Cassar

Obituary of Jo Ann Cassar

Jo Ann Cassar, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on November 11, 2024, at the age of 66. Born to John and Marie Staluppi, both of whom preceded her in death, Jo Ann was a cherished member of her family and community. She is survived by her three children: Tara Cassar, Vanessa Welsh (Kevin Welsh), and Joseph R. Cassar, Jr. (Melyssa Cassar), as well as her adored grandchildren, Mia and Lucas. Jo Ann was also a loving sister to Barbara Cassidy, Phyllis McGlynn, and Stephen Staluppi.

Jo Ann dedicated a decade of her life to working as a paraprofessional with the New York City Department of Education, where she made a lasting impact on her students and colleagues at PS 312. Outside of her career, Jo Ann was a true homemaker who found joy in crocheting, cooking, and baking. Known especially for her delicious chocolate lollipops and famous fried zucchini, she shared her love and warmth through her cooking, creating cherished memories for her family and friends.

A dedicated parishioner of Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Jo Ann found a sense of community through her participation in the Good Shepherd Grandparents Club. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her loved ones were felt by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and church community.
