Obituary of Anne P. Cronin

Anne P. Cronin (nee: Watters) wore a lot of different hats in her lifetime: Bishop Mac Donald and Brooklyn College graduate, WW II Veteran, NYPD Police Woman, St. Edmund’s High School Teacher, and the Assistant Director of Enforcement, NYS Liquor Authority. She also volunteered as a CCD Teacher at Mary Queen of Heaven and as a counselor at the Life Center in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. In her spare time, she attended daily mass at Mary Queen of Heaven and was an active member of Seniors and the Rosary Society. This said, the most cherished hat that adorned her head was that of wife, mother, grandmother and great grand mother. In 1950, Anne married James F. Cronin, an NYPD Detective. They settled in Brooklyn and raised 5 children: Kevin, a retired SCPD Lieutenant and presently Building Commissioner in North Hempstead. Anne, a trial attorney in Los Angeles, California. Mary, NYPD Deputy Chief commanding the Quality Assurance Unit. James F. Jr., NYPD Detective (ret) assigned to TARU, presently in Global Security at the NYSE/ICE. Patrick, a Sergeant in the NYS Court Officers assigned to the 4th Judicial District in upstate New York. Anne’s children produced 12 grandchildren who in turn have produced 3 great grandchildren. Her grandchildren include teachers, financial analysts, a sailor in the United States Navy, students and the oldest Kate, formerly a member of the NYPD and presently a member of the Nassau County PD marking the 5th generation of the family to serve as Police Officers. A fact that made Anne justly proud. Yes, Anne wore many hats and all of them fit her well. She will be missed and certainly well remembered by all.
